Description

NOCPIX RICO 3 H50R Thermal Scope

The NOCPIX RICO 3 H50R Thermal Scope is built for serious coyote and hog hunters who need premium long-range image quality, fast and accurate rangefinding, and enough battery life to hunt throughout the night. Featuring a 640×512, 12 μm thermal sensor, 50mm F/1.0 objective lens, and 3X base magnification, the H50R delivers the detail and native magnification needed to identify animals across large crop fields, open pastures, and long calling setups.

NOCPIX continues to build on the success of the RICO 2 series while improving the features that matter most in the field. The RICO 3 introduces a faster and more capable 1,600-yard integrated laser rangefinder, an advanced ballistic calculator, and a redesigned NBP-8 battery system that provides up to 10 hours of runtime.

During field testing at Southern Precision Outdoors, the H50R impressed us with its long-range image quality and the speed and reliability of its new laser rangefinder. The upgraded LRF module responds faster, produces accurate readings, and noticeably improves upon the rangefinder used in the previous RICO generation.

At $4,499, the RICO 3 H50R hits the sweet spot for hunters who want a premium 3X 640 thermal scope but do not need the Autofocus or Ocular Zoom 2.0 technology included with the more expensive RICO 3 PRO H50R. It gives long-range coyote hunters and open-field hog hunters the core performance they need without requiring them to pay for features they may never use.

Premium 640 Thermal Image Quality

The RICO 3 H50R combines a high-resolution 640×512 NOCPIX thermal sensor with a 12 μm pixel pitch, 60 Hz refresh rate, and thermal sensitivity rated at ≤15 mK. This combination produces a smooth, detailed thermal image with strong target separation, even during humid, foggy, or otherwise low-contrast hunting conditions.

Its 50mm F/1.0 objective lens and 3X native magnification are optimized for hunters who regularly watch long fields and need more detail on distant animals. The H50R provides a focused view for evaluating coyotes, hogs, and other predators before relying heavily on digital magnification.

Reality+ image processing further improves clarity, contrast, and overall image detail. When conditions become difficult, Ultra-Clear mode can enhance contrast to help animals stand out against the surrounding terrain.

3X Base Magnification for Open-Country Hunting

The RICO 3 H50R begins at 3X native magnification and offers up to 8X digital zoom for a total magnification range of up to 24X. Its 8.8° × 7.0° field of view provides the balance of magnification and visibility needed for open fields, long shooting lanes, and distant calling setups.

This makes the H50R especially well suited for:

  • Long-range coyote hunting
  • Open-field hog hunting
  • Large crop fields and pastures
  • Predator calling across open terrain
  • Hunters wanting a 3X 640 thermal scope
  • Hunters who value distant target detail over a wider field of view

For hunters working in tighter areas where field of view is more important than native magnification, the 2X RICO 3 H35R may be the better fit. For open-country hunters who need more reach and detail, the H50R is the natural choice.

Faster 1,600-Yard Laser Rangefinder

One of the biggest improvements to the RICO 3 series is the upgraded integrated laser rangefinder. The new LRF is capable of measuring targets out to 1,600 yards with ±1-yard accuracy, depending on the target and environmental conditions.

The rangefinder supports both single-measurement and continuous-ranging modes. Continuous ranging refreshes the displayed distance as the target moves, while single ranging can be used with the onboard ballistic calculator.

During our testing, the new rangefinder was faster and more dependable than the LRF used in the RICO 2 series. That improved response makes it easier to range an animal, confirm the distance, and prepare for the shot without reaching for a separate handheld rangefinder.

Integrated Ballistic Calculator

The RICO 3 H50R combines its laser rangefinder with a customizable onboard ballistic calculator. Hunters can enter their rifle, ammunition, and environmental information to receive a calculated aiming correction after ranging the target.

The ballistic calculator can display the suggested correction in MOA, MIL, centimeters, or inches. It can also display a secondary aiming point or move the original reticle to the calculated point of aim.

Up to eight zeroing profiles can be saved, allowing the H50R to be configured for different rifles, ammunition loads, or zero distances.

Up to 10 Hours of Battery Life

The new NBP-8 rechargeable battery system is designed for extended overnight hunting. Each battery provides up to 10 hours of operating time under normal conditions and up to approximately seven hours in temperatures as low as -4°F.

Two removable NBP-8 battery packs are included, allowing hunters to quickly exchange batteries when needed. The H50R also supports USB-C external power and includes a magnetic charging connection for convenient charging in the field, truck, or hunting camp.

An automatic standby function can help conserve power by putting the scope to sleep when the rifle is lowered and waking it when the rifle is raised.

High-Resolution Circular AMOLED Display

The RICO 3 H50R uses a large-format 1.03-inch circular AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560×2560. The circular display creates an immersive, traditional riflescope-style viewing experience while providing excellent contrast and detail.

Seven thermal color palettes are available:

  • White Hot
  • Black Hot
  • Red Hot
  • Rainbow
  • Violet
  • Crimson
  • Viridian

Display brightness, image contrast, sharpness, hue, and other settings can be adjusted to match the hunter’s preferences and current weather conditions.

Recoil-Activated Video and 64GB Storage

The H50R includes 64GB of internal storage for recording videos and capturing thermal images. Recoil-activated video automatically saves footage when a shot is detected, recording the moments before and after the shot so hunters can review and share their hunts.

Built-in Wi-Fi allows the scope to connect to the NOCPIX mobile app. Through the app, users can view and download recordings, capture images and videos, synchronize the date and time, change device settings, and install firmware updates.

Rugged Magnesium Construction

The RICO 3 H50R is housed in a durable magnesium-alloy body and carries an IP67 weather-resistance rating. It is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -4°F to 122°F and is recoil rated for cartridges including .300 Winchester Magnum and 7mm Remington Magnum.

The included quick-detach Picatinny mount provides secure attachment to MIL-STD-1913 rails while making it easy to remove or transfer the scope when necessary.

Why Choose the RICO 3 H50R Over the PRO H50R?

The standard RICO 3 H50R delivers the performance most long-range thermal hunters actually need. The PRO H50R adds Autofocus, Ocular Zoom 2.0, and a remote control, but those features are not essential for every hunter.

The RICO 3 H50R still provides:

  • The same 640×512 sensor resolution
  • A 50mm F/1.0 objective lens
  • 3X base magnification
  • A 1,600-yard laser rangefinder
  • Integrated ballistic calculations
  • Up to 10 hours of battery life
  • A 2560×2560 circular AMOLED display
  • Reality+ image processing
  • Recoil-activated video
  • 64GB of internal storage
  • Rugged magnesium construction

For hunters who do not care about Autofocus or Ocular Zoom 2.0, the $4,499 RICO 3 H50R offers an excellent balance of image quality, long-range capability, and overall value.
